I am an infectious diseases physician who serves as the Deputy Science Director and HIV/STI Research Area Director in the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, employed by the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. I have been part of military HIV and STI clinical care and research for over 20 years, serving roles including US Air Force HIV Unit Director, Principal Investigator of the longstanding US Military HIV Natural History Study (initiated 1986), and as a member of the IDCRP since its establishment in 2005. My major research interests include understanding long-term outcomes of HIV infection and its management at the individual and population levels; diagnosis and prevention of HIV associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND); long COVID, especially neurocognitive complications; and prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections among active-duty service members.
