Since 2010, HJF has hosted an annual Heroes of Military Medicine (HMM) Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C., welcoming top military and civilian leaders in the nation to honor those who have made significant contributions to the field of military medicine.
Heroes of Military Medicine honorees distinguish themselves through excellence and selfless dedication while serving our nation’s wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, civilians, and their families.
San Antonio, nicknamed “Military City USA,” is a major base of medical operations for the United States Military. Beginning in 2022, HJF expanded its successful HMM Awards program to San Antonio by hosting an annual Heroes of Military Medicine San Antonio (HMM SA) Awards dinner. The HMM SA recognizes exceptional military medical talent serving in and around the greater San Antonio area benefiting its citizens and service members alike.
This year’s HMM SA will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Red Berry Estate.

The 2023 Honorees
Three of the awards presented at the Heroes of Military Medicine San Antonio awards are given to active duty military medical professionals from the Army, Navy and Air Force, respectively. In addition, one community ambassador and one civilian provider —all based in the San Antonio area— will be honored as 2023 Heroes of Military Medicine.
